CES(Consumer Electronics Show) is an annual festival for tech lovers. Every year this event takes place at the start of the year to showcase all the latest upcoming technology for the year. Some are the prototype and some are actual products. This year event took place at Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Many big companies like Intel, Sony, Yamaha, Samsung etc took the stage to introduce their latest products to the world. This event considered as one of the biggest events in the tech community. 10. ASUS ROG PG65 And Digital Storm Spark
This year in CES 2018, there were exciting laptops like Acer swift 7 which is world’s thinnest laptop with just 0.39-inch of thickness and 1.12 Kg, Dell XPS 15 2 in 1 convertible laptop for better productivity and Lenovo Miix 63 detachable tablet. This year’s annual show also brought excitement for the hardcore gamers. Digital Storm spark is stand out because of its compact size.
It is only 12-inch tall and 4-inch wide in size. But underestimate it by looking at its size only. It can be built with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 and the same build can handle up to a GTX 1080 and an Intel Core i7-8700K processor. It is also built with custom liquid-cooling piping.
But the best gaming experience is incomplete without having the best gaming display. But not everyone wants to spend this much of amount on just for gaming purpose. ASUS ROG PG65 65-inch 4K G-Sync Android TV with 120 Hz refresh rates and with a built-in Nvidia shield is bang for the buck. And in addition, it also supports HDR content with Quantum Dot Technology with the peak brightness of 1,000 nits. Playing in this display is just delightful. Price is expected to be high but it is considered when you are getting high-end gaming monitor and a smart TV.
9. Toyota e-Palette
Last year you have seen many electric and self-driving cars. And well CES it’s obviously expected to see these kinds of cars in the show. This year 2018 Toyota comes with weird but cool vehicle calling them as e-Palette. Most the high tech vehicle you have seen previously is for the personal use kind of vehicle but this one is for the commercial use as well.
It’s fully automated, next-generation battery electric vehicles designed to be a scalable and customizable range for a mobility to services for businesses. You can think of this as transparent cargo or shipping container that grows and shrinks in size depending on their specific tasks.
It can be used for a variety of services like mobility services like ride sharing or carpool, mobile office or retail office, medical clinic, pizza shop and more. You can have a pizza on the way while sharing your ride with others. If you need a shoe and you are getting for office.
Here, you can try different while traveling to your office. Isn’t it cool and next level things which we always want to have? Toyota has some strong plans for this project and also in talks with various companies like Amazon, Didi, Mazda, Pizza Hut, and Uber. This robot is just amazing it can make one to one conversation with you. And it’s AI technology helps to learn more as time grows. Dr. Hanson said, ” it will move around the world and can become a platform for AI research people to use it in AI labs for their Ph.D. researchers”.
There are few other worth mentioning, like LG Cloi which can be used for smart home to do activities like turning on lights, your washing machines etc. And the bigger for the airports, hotels, and malls to act as a shop cart.
Sony Aibo Dogs also one of the attractions at CES 2018. This dog is able to speak to you and perform various tasks like taking care of your home’s security etc.
Omron’s ping-pong playing robot called Forpheus. First launched in 2014 and this is the fourth generation with all the improvements. Its AI capability is increased, now also have a companion arm to serve the ball. It’s AI arm which is controlled by AI through 5-Axis motor to swing the paddle. Its AI technology understands motion and direction and reacts in 1,000th of a second. It displays your score and your level in the nets. It can be used as a ping-pong trainer.
7. Byton Concept SUV
Byton new startup showcased their first electric car at CES 2018. As expected from a new startup Byton begins a new era for electric cars. This Chinese founded company ticks all the boxes which left the other competitors. Its new refreshing design gives it a very attractive look with its unique LED’s new front as well as in the back of the car. But not so appealing concept.
Byton’s is not trying to break any speed records. It’s fully charged base model will get you around 402 km approx. and single rear mounted motor gives you 272 horsepower and the high-performance dual motor can boost up to 476 horsepower for 523 km.
Things get interesting when you open the door of the Byton. Where all the car’s dashboard goes, Byton puts a big screen from corner to corner. The car is loaded with all the futuristic specification. The 8-inch tablet is present at the steering wheel, rotatable seats, displays mounted in the rear head portion of front seats for rear passengers entertainment and Byton also takes care of your health by Byton Health by measuring all the details by built-in sensors. It is excepted to launch INR 28,72,372. So, it’s definitely not going to be very expensive. It also won the award for Best of CES 2018.
6. LG Rollable TV
A few years back LG showed their concept 18-inch rollable display which can roll as a newspaper. Well, that concept has grown up and become the LG’s new product. In CES 2018, LG launched their world’s first rollable TV. Yes, you have read it right this TV set is able to completely roll and get disappear from your table. If we talk about the display its LG guys it has the best display technology in the world.
In this rollable LG put a 65 inch OLED UHD a.k.a 4k panel which is very pleasing to watch. You can also half roll that TV and best 21:9 aspect ratio view. For now, LG didn’t disclose much about its specification. But it’s going to be very interesting to know further the consumer what to keep it in their living or not. It is excepted to hit the market in spring.
5. JBL Link View
JBL is well known for making the best sound quality products. This year JBL came out of their zone and attempt a different approach for their Link Series. JBL Link View is a new production company showed in CES. What’s new is the Display. It comes in 8-inch 720p display which is enough to make things done. Also powered by Google Assistant that means it can perform all the tasks like other Google-powered devices like showing weather, maps. streaming youtube and play music.
You can also make video calls through Google Duo with its 5 MP front facing camera which is decent enough. Now the good thing is sound quality. JBL has a reputation for its sound quality so you can expect better from this one also. It has two 10W stereo speakers with JBL’s signature bass radiator at the back. JBL Link View is soon excepting to hit the market on this summer.
4. Samsung The Wall
Samsung is already well known for their beautiful television panels. This year in CES 2018 Samsung take the things even further with their new Samsung The Wall TV. Samsung is coming to this TV as a because of its size. It is a 146-inch display with MicroLED technology. This MicroLED display has more benefit with OLED.
Each LED present in the TV emits its own light which reflects deep colors. There is no backlight is required. Samsung didn’t disclose any information about the specification. Currently, this is even considering as Concept. It is excepting a global launch between the spring and after that things will get more clear. But Samsung is planning real with this TV.
3. Lenovo’s Smart Display With Google Assistant
New technologies are making homes smarter than before. Last year it was Google home and Amazon echo who dominate this segment. Lenovo also made an entry with their latest Lenovo Smart Display with Google Assistant. Its more similar like Amazon echo show but with Google’s new home assistant features like users can view maps of planned routes, make a video call using google duo, watch youtube videos or view pictures of google photos and also do the smart activities. Devices will come with two screen sizes 8 inches and 10.1 inches with built 10W speakers with a passive radiator. This product will hit the market somewhere in the mid of the year.
2. Synaptics Clear ID
This year in CES 2018 Synaptics comes with the future of smartphone unlocking system. Last year there were so many speculations on-screen fingerprint scanner which is expecting from the big companies like Apple and Samsung but no one was to able to achieve that. This on screen is so much required from companies because many of them want to make their phone completely bezels which leaves no room for a fingerprint scanner.
Now with Synaptics clear id, Vivo a China smartphone company become first to achieve that. Synaptics showcased their first smartphone in CES which has on display fingerprint scanner. It works by creating gaps between the pixels of the OLED display and will not work with LCD displays because of their need for the backlight. Definitely, it is not as much fast as a physical fingerprint scanner. We will see a lot of companies adopting this technology.
1.Razer Project Linda
Last year in CES 2017 Razer showcased their prototype triple screen gaming laptop which makes the booth one of the attractive places in the show. This year also Razer comes with a dope tech called Razer Project Linda. At the end of last year, Razer launched their first gaming smartphone which was very impressive. Some of the attractive features of the phone were their solid hardware and 120Hz display.
In this project, Razer used their smartphones hardware to power a kind laptop you can say. You need to put your phone in the cut-out space where most of the laptops use the trackpad and works as a trackpad to operate. With that, you’ll be able to use a bigger screen, RGB keyboard, and inbuilt battery which also chargers phone as well. This might be the future of laptops.
